Devoted animal lovers can get their furry, feathered and even slimy companions blessed this weekend in the Chicago area.
Blessings will take place through Sunday, since Friday marked the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.
Dozens of Archdiocese of Chicago churches have organized ceremonies throughout the weekend.
Grace Place and Holy Trinity Lutheran Churches will come together for a blessing at 10 a.m. Sunday at Prints Row Park in the South Loop. A Coffee Hour and Pet Fair will take place following the blessing.
