Three Floyds Brewery Expansion Plans Take Step Forward

Plans include huge outdoor dining area and tons of additional warehouse space

A planning commission has approved plans by Three Floyds to massively expand its brewery and brewpub in Munster.

A major new expansion at 3 Floyds’ Brewery is one step closer to reality in northwest Indiana.

The Munster Plan Commission unanimously approved the plan this week, sending it to the full city council for a final vote.

The company wants to triple the size of its operation in Munster, with plans calling for a glass-walled campus. The campus would include an expanded brewpub and beer garden, a new retail area, additional parking, and office space.

The craft brewery, known for its specialty beers such as Zombie Dust and Permanent Funeral, filed plans Feb. 8 with the Town of Munster Plan Commission to expand the existing 57,000-square-foot space by nearly 137,000 square feet, according to the documents filed with the Plan Commission.

Last year, 3 Floyds was named one of the top 10 best brewers in the world by beer enthusiast website RateBeer.com. More than 22,500 brewers are listed and rated on RateBeer.com.
