Metra trains were shut down for hours in both directions near Arlington Heights on Thursday evening after a commuter train struck a vehicle, leaving the driver of that vehicle injured.
According to officials, a train on Metra’s UP-NW line struck a vehicle near the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway.
Arlington Heights police say that the driver of the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was taken to an area hospital.
Trains were halted in both directions on the line, but have since resumed with "significant delays," the agency said. The rail-grade crossing has also been cleared, officials say.
