Metra Adding Service for Chicago Marathon

On Sunday, Oct. 11, Metra will operate extra inbound trains in the early morning and outbound trains in the early afternoon on five of its rail lines for Bank of America Chicago Marathon participants and spectators.

“The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is one of the most prestigious annual marathons, and Metra accommodates thousands of participants and fans attending the event,” Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno said. “Each year more and more people who travel into the city to experience the event are taking the train.”

The BNSF, Metra Electric, Milwaukee North and Union Pacific West and Northwest lines will all add trains in addition to their regular Sunday schedules to help people get to and from the race.

If you’re planning to take Metra to the Chicago Marathon this Sunday, you can take advantage of Metra’s $8 unlimited ride Weekend Pass, as well as “Family Fares” allowing children under 11 to ride for free with a fare-paying adult.
