Two men were sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of a 13-year-old boy on a crowded South Side basketball court in 2011.
Jamal Streeter, 21, and Aramis Beachem, 24, were convicted in January on first-degree murder charges for the shooting death of Darius Brown at Metcalfe Park.
Brown was the unintended target of gunfire from a passing car. He was struck in the back.
Police say the two men were members of the Gangster Disciples, and fired at least nine shots from the passenger side of a car with the intention of shooting rivals of the same gang, but from a different faction.
A third defendant, Vito Richmond, is awaiting trial.
