Teen Charged in Armed Robbery at McDonald's

The former employee of the restaurant fled the scene with $500

A Bensenville teen was charged Thursday con connection with a robbery at a northwest suburban McDonald’s restaurant.

Danny Herrera, 19, was charged with armed robbery and set on a $300,000 bail, the Daily Herald reported.

Prosecutors told the Daily Herald that Herrera entered into the restaurant around 8:40 p.m. Sunday on Route 83 in Bensenville with a gun and a bandana over his face. A former co-worker recognized him and refused to hand over money from a register, but Herrera managed to grab $500 and flee the scene.

Herrera was already on bond and charged with a misdemeanor during the time of this incident . If he’s found guilty he will face an extended 45 years in prison for having a weapon, Assistant State’s Attorney Bethany Jackson told the Daily Herald.

Herrera has been ordered to stay away from the McDonald's and is scheduled to appear in court July 16.
