A man was not hurt when he crashed his plane in rural Kane County on Saturday evening.
The pilot, 74-year-old David Weaver, was flying an experimental plane near Olson Airport in Plato Township when he began his descent to land.
According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, there was an issue with lighting at the airport, causing Weaver to misjudge the descent and to crash the aircraft.
The plane ended up crashing through a wooden fence, and came to rest on its belly, according to the sheriff’s office. Weaver was not injured in the crash.
