NBC Universal, Inc.

An armed man was shot by police inside the 10th District police station Wednesday after expressing anti-police sentiments and pointing a gun at officers, NBC 5’s Lexi Sutter reports.

A man was shot inside a Chicago police station Wednesday afternoon on the West Side, officials said.

Emergency crews responded to a call of a person shot about 12:50 p.m. inside CPD’s Ogden District station, Chicago Fire spokesman Larry Merritt said.

A man, whose age was unknown, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Merritt said.

In a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Chicago's top cop David Brown addressed the incident, saying a man walked into the 10th District police station with the barrel of a gun visible inside a bag the man was carrying.

Brown said the man began to rant and express anti-police sentiment, with shots being fired by the police once the weapon was observed.

Police did not confirm how many officers fired their weapons.

According to officials, no shots were fired toward officers and no officers were injured in the incident. Police said civilian employees were working at the front desk at the time of the incident.

The man was treated with non life-threatening injuries at a local hospital and has yet to be identified.
