A Joliet man was sentenced to 51 years in prison on Wednesday for shooting another man during a conflict.
Tyrone Henderson, 31, was found guilty in January of first-degree murder for shooting Michael Amos, 21, on Aug. 26, 2009, Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow said Wednesday.
“Tyrone Henderson is a depraved miscreant who gunned down an unarmed man in this act of cold-blooded violence,” Glasgow said.
The conflict began when Henderson's girlfriend called him to say Amos had teased her that evening. Henderson went to the victim's home with a .45-caliber weapon. Henderson punched Amos' brother in the face, leading to a fight inside the house. Henderson pulled out the gun and shot Amos three times, in the stomach, shoulder and leg.
Along with the first-degree murder conviction, Henderson also was found guilty of home invasion, criminal trespass to residence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and being an armed habitual criminal.
