Sherman Henderson, 31, was charged with one count of home invasion after investigators say he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, Lindsay Bowman, while she was house-sitting Sunday night.

Emergency dispatchers received a 911 call just before midnight from a witness who said they saw Bowman being forced into a vehicle by a man before the car fled the area. Responding officers arrived at the home to find a rear door that had been broken into.

Bowman was found safe Monday afternoon at an area hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.

Henderson has a history of violence, according to police, including previous arrests for domestic battery and unlawful use of a weapon.

Henderson was taken into custody Monday night. He is being held in the Cook County Jail with a $250,000 bond.
