A Chicago man who was pulled over improperly backing up on a roadway was caught carrying a large stash of Ecstasy pills.
Alonzo Ratliff, 28, of the 7900 block of South Maryland Avenue, is charged with driving on a revoked license, unsafe backing on a roadway and drug possession, the Cook County Sheriff's office said in a statement.
Ratliff backed out of a convenience store parking lot on U.S. Highway 30 and Cottage Grove Avenue in Ford Heights Saturday.
Officers pulled him over and discovered he was driving on a revoked license. They took him into custody and searched his car. They found 14 plastic bags filled with 1,176 Ecstasy pills with a street value of $23,520.
Ratliff denied the drugs belonged to him, the office said.
He's due in court in Maywood Oct. 14.
