A "massive" fire that engulfed a Chicago Heights furniture warehouse Monday damaged multiple buildings and sent big plumes of heavy, black smoke billowing into the air.

According authorities, multiple fire officials responded around 6:30 a.m. Monday to an extra alarm fire at the Morgan Li facility at 101 W. Washington St. in Chicago Heights. At 230,000 square feet, the sprawling production warehouse contains furniture, fabrics, dry goods, fixtures and more, the Morgan Li website states.

Photos and video show a massive cloud of smoke visible for miles traveling through the air as flames shoot out from underneath.

A Morgan Li spokesperson described the damage of the fire as "massive," adding that "the most important thing" is that all of its employees are accounted for.

"Morgan Li is a family-owned and run business and we consider all our employees an extension of our family; we will do everything we can to rebuild what was lost and continue to support our people and the entire Chicago Heights community," an emailed statement from the company reads. "The location of the fire is one of our five manufacturing facilities and we will continue to support our customers throughout the other operational locations."

The statement goes on to say that the cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation.

As of late Monday morning, though crews were making progress, the fire has not yet been contained, officials said.

According to authorities, no injuries have been reported and no evacuations are in place.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
