There are always two sides to every story, and the landlord's side seems to involve a strong dislike for a woman who has been living in a Wrigleyville apartment with her family for the past four years and has a history of being a bit of a rabble rouser.
The other side is that of the tenant, who is being evicted from the apartment by relatives of the elderly woman she originally rented from but who passed away at age 86 last weekend.
Never the twain shall meet.
The tenant, Deb Gordils, and her two daughters are to be out of the apartment by today, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
In addition to finding that edict difficult to comply with, Gordils points to an incident two years ago, when her 9-year-old daughter crawled through a window to rescue her 84-year-old landlady, who had fallen and lain on the floor of her Wrigleyville apartment for 15 hours. At the time, the girl, Missy Kowalski, was hailed as a hero.
"She doesn't understand (the eviction)," Gordils said of her daughter's response to recent developments.
But relatives of the old woman, Kathleen Slattery, said Missy's mother, Deb Gordils, had "agitated and disturbed" Slattery and her live-in caregiver and made comments aimed at harming Slattery. They got a court order of protection barring Gordils from any contact with Slattery.

And, they kicked the family out.
Gordils said finding a new place on one month's notice would be hard because she has had to spend a lot of time recently caring for Missy, who was born with multiple holes in her heart and has missed 14 of the past 20 days of school because of health problems.
"Medically, it's been one of her hardest months in many years," said Gordils. She added: Missy "doesn't understand. She said, 'But, Mommy, I saved her.' "
"I told her: She's not doing this, other people are," Gordils said.
Slattery's niece, Mary Siwak, who was Slattery's guardian and sought the eviction, declined to speak with a reporter after a court appearance Tuesday.
