Lake County Road Closures Could Snarl Morning Commute

Several major roads remained closed throughout Lake County due to flooding, and it’s going to have a massive impact on Monday’s commute.

According to the Lake County Division of Transportation, at least five major roads will have at least some closures on Monday morning, meaning that traffic on other roads leading toward Chicago will be a lot heavier than usual.

“The amount of traffic that will be using IL 22, IL 137, IL 176, Wadsworth Road, Deerfield Road, and Washington Street will far exceed capacity,” the Department said in a press release on Sunday night.

Drivers are encouraged to visit the Lake County PASSAGE website for the most up-to-date information on road closures and alternate routes.

Here are the roads that are currently closed in Lake County:

  • IL 60 (IL 21 – St. Mary’s)
  • IL 120 (IL 21 – River Road)
  • IL 132 (IL 21 – O’Plaine)
  • US 41 (IL 21 – Delany)
  • IL 173 (US 41 – Kilbourne)

There are select other roadways that are also closed near the Des Plaines River and the Fox River/Chain O’Lakes Area, according to the department.
