Blocked Eisenhower Expressway Reopens

raffic backed up as officers walked I-290 searching for something on the road

The inbound Ike was blocked Tuesday afternoon at 1st Avenue for police activity.

The Eisenhower Expressway was reopened after police shut down inbound lanes at 1st Avenue for about a half hour.

State police apparently were called to the 1st Avenue overpass just before noon Tuesday for a shooting. Traffic backed up as officers walked I-290 searching for something on the road.

Cars were filtered off the interstate at 1st Avenue and were routed back onto I-290 after the exit. Officers wrapped up the search just before 1 p.m. It's unclear what they found, if anything.
