According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred just before 2 a.m. in Posen, on I-57 North near 147th Street and Sibley.

One person was declared deceased on scene, ISP said. Another died at the hospital. A third person involved in the crash was transported to a nearby hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries, police added.

All lanes of I-57 Northbound were shut down for approximately seven hours, ISP said. Lanes reopened around 9 a.m.
