4-Alarm Fire Breaks Out at Grand Bear Resort

Firefighters battle a large fire at Grizzly Jack’s Grand Bear Resort near Starved Rock.

A four-alarm fire broke out at a popular Illinois water park early Tuesday morning, sending crews from multiple departments to the scene.

The flames were reported around 5:30 a.m. at Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort in Utica, just outside Starved Rock State Park, according to the LaSalle County Sheriff's office.

The flames began in the lodge of the building, officials said, but the cause of the blaze remained unclear Tuesday morning.

Video from the scene showed dozens of first responders outside the resort as smoke billowed out of the building.
