Governor Smacksalot

Governor tough-guy Pat Quinn introduced both Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy with some gusto this afternoon. What gives, Guv?

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn asserted his, um, authority Monday afternoon when he introduced two of Chicago's biggest tough-guys.

Quinn, appearing with Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, at a press conference to announce RICO laws in Illinois, heartily introduced Emanuel to the audience.

What appeared to be intended as a pat on the back turned into a little bit more than Emanuel bargained for.

"Thank you for the hit in the back," Emanuel said -- Quinn flashing a devilish grin next to him. "Thank god I was holding the podium when you did that."

The two men recently, reportedly got into a heated argument on the telephone over gambling legislation. Maybe this was Quinn's way of getting him back?

McCarthy, tough guy that he is, invited Quinn's masculine back-slap when it was his turn to be introduced.

"Did you hurt yourself," McCarthy quipped to the governor.

"You're a football player, right, "Quinn followed up, with a forearm to the Supt.'s side.

"Alright take it easy, governor," McCarthy said.
