Don't Rake Your Leaves, Natural Wildlife Federation Says

If you feel guilty that you have not raked your leaves, don’t. The Natural Wildlife Federation says it is better to let leaves decompose naturally. Among the reasons they give not to rake your lawn: leaves are natural mulch and fertilizer thus saving you money. Wildlife depends on your leaves. While raking up leaves could be getting rid of caterpillars that would be butterflies in the spring. And leaves and yard waste take up a lot of space in landfills.
