‘You Don't Do That to a Baby': Death Investigation Underway After Infant's Body Found in Wheaton

Authorities in the west suburbs are conducting a death investigation after the body of an infant was found in unincorporated Wheaton.

In an emailed statement sent Monday afternoon, the DuPage County sheriff’s office said the infant was found Monday along Plamondon Road.

A woman who would only give her first name, Stella, showed NBC 5 where she witnessed the gruesome discovery in her upscale neighborhood.

"There was a baby, a blanket and a bag," she said.

Someone saw the bag in the road in the morning, then a few feet away into a wooded area, a discolored, lifeless infant, Stella said.

"You don't do that to a baby," she said.

Stella said some landscapers found the baby this morning on a private drive off of Plamondon Road, but no one knows who the mother is.

No additional details, including the child’s gender, were provided, though the sheriff’s office asked anyone with information on the death to call (630) 407-2400.

An autopsy has been ordered for tomorrow by the DuPage County coroner.
