Driver Who Crashed Into Bus Had No License

The woman didn't have a license because of a poor driving record

The woman who died after her car crashed into a school bus Wednesday afternoon was driving without a license, police say. She didn't have a license because of a poor driving record.

Her two children -- a boy and a girl, ages 8 and 9 -- are still in critical condition. They were taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital after the crash, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight said Wednesday.

The car they were in drove into and slid under a school bus that was stalled on the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway.

The crash happened near 73rd Street about 2:15 p.m. All inbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway were reopened at about 4:30 p.m.

There were no children on board the school bus and the driver was not injured.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the bus was stopped on the shoulder at the time of impact.
