CTA Train Service Temporarily Suspended Due to Incident

CTA Red Line service has been temporarily suspended between Howard and Belmont, officials say, "due to an incident involving a train" Sunday morning.
According to CFD officials, CTA confirmed there was no derailment as originally reported, "simply a switch issue."
Update all passengers are off the train. No injuries or transports. Passengers continued on to their destinations. Per CTA there was no derailment just a switching problem.
As of 9:50 a.m. Sunday, "all passengers are off the train," CFD tweeted. "No injuries or transports. Passengers continued on to their destinations."
Around 9:10 a.m., CTA alerted travelers that trains would only be operating between Belmont and 95th.

Another alert was issued close to 9:40 a.m. Sunday suggesting limited service and delays expected at Purple Line following the incident involving a train at Howard. Shuttles will be provided between South BLVD and Linden, the CTA stated.
Officials say crews are working to restore service and urge travelers to allow for extra travel time in the meantime.
No other information was immediately known.
