Cops: Mother, Daughter Killed in Hoffman Estates Crash

A mother and daughter were both killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday night in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates, police said.

The crash happened about 9:35 p.m. at the intersection of Route 72 and Beverly Road, according to Hoffman Estates police.

The mother and daughter, ages 82 and 50, were taken to hospitals, where they died from injuries related to the crash, police said. They both lived in South Barrington.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office didn’t immediately confirm their deaths.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 48-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were believed to be life-threatening, police said.

They were standing on a sidewalk about 12:55 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Mason Avenue when someone started shooting at them from across the street, Chicago Police said.

They tried to take off in an SUV, but crashed into a parked vehicle in the 1600 block of North Mason, police said.

The 22-year-old man was shot in his head and the 20-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the foot, police said. They were both taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, where the man died and the woman’s condition was stabilized.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office didn’t immediately confirm the death. Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
