Cook County Records First Cold-Related Fatality of Season

An autopsy determined that the death of a Little Village man over the weekend is the first confirmed cold-related fatality of the winter season in Cook County.

Daniel Badillo was found in the 3100 block of West 99th Street Sunday and pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The autopsy determined Badillo died of hyperthermia, cold exposure and acute and chronic alcoholism, according to the the medical examiner’s office.

His death was ruled accidental.
