A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for areas north and west of Chicago as visibility is forecasted to drop significantly in the evening hours.
In DuPage, Cook, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, and Kankakee counties, the advisory will remain in effect until 10 a.m. The advisory has also been issued for Lake, Porter, Newton, and Jasper counties in northwest Indiana.
McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, and Kane counties are all under the advisory as well, which will remain in effect through 4 a.m. Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, reduced visibility is in the forecast, dropping to below one-quarter mile in some locations. There is also the possibility of slick spots forming on bridges as temperatures drop in the overnight hours.
Motorists are advised to use caution on the roads, driving slower, using headlights, and leaving plenty of room between themselves and other vehicles while the advisory is in effect.
