One of the Chicago terror suspects arrested for plotting to attack a Danish newspaper is a Pakistani army deserter, according to ABC 7.
Chicago travel agent Tahawwur Hussain Rana contends that because he deserted the military and isn't welcome back in his homeland, he's not a flight risk and should be released on bond.
But a judge is delaying a decision on Rana's bond pending a new indictment against the suspect, which prosecutors say could come by Jan. 14th, the AP reports. That indictment could send the case to a different judge, hence the delay in ruling on bond.
Meanwhile, Rana's immigration and visa services business in Chicago's "Little India" neighborhood is the subject of an intense terror investigation, but remains open.
The FBI says Headley also used business cards from First World Immigration to gain entry to Jyllands-Posten, the Copenhagen newspaper he allegedly planned to attack. Headley said he was interested in placing an advertisement.
Despite the firm's alleged ties to terror, the Justice Department says there is value in allowing Rana's business to continue operating, as it allows them to monitor its clients for possible terrorist ties.
“If you shut it down, those people are lost to the wind,” the spokesman said to The Daily Beast.
