No Injuries Reported in Loop High Rise Fire

Building was vacant, under renovation, fire department spokesman says

10/21/2014: With two months to go until the deadline expires for compliance with Chicago’s high-rise fire ordinance, dozens of buildings have failed the city’s repeated attempts to bring them into compliance, and will be taken to court. Phil Rogers reports.

A fire on the 15th floor of a high rise office building in Chicago's Loop kept firefighters busy early Tuesday.

Firefighters said they had the fire, on the 100 block of West Monroe Street, under control by 3 a.m. According to a fire department spokesperson, the building was vacant and under renovation.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of 6 a.m.
