Chicago's City Council meets Wednesday.
The meeting begins at 10 a.m. and is streamed live on the website of the Chicago City Clerk.
Among the expected agenda items:
- A proposed ordinance against "upskirting" would ban recording or taking pictures under or through a person's clothing without consent. | UPDATE -- Ordinance Passed
- An amendment to municipal code that would levy fines for posting "commercial advertising matter" on private property.
- A proposal that would regulate where gun stores could be located and require that sales are recorded on video and with strict records.
- A group of alderman are expected to introduce an ordinance that would raise the minimum wage in the City of Chicago to $15 per hour.
- Delayed at the last meeting was discussion of a proposed ordinance that would mandate that drivers of some popular ride-sharing services like Lyft, UberX and Sidecar have chauffer's licenses. The ordinance would also give the city authority to cap the price set for a trip during times of peak demand. The Illinois General Assembly is also working on legislation to regulate ride-sharing companies.
