Chicago Bears

Trey Burton Questionable for Bears Heading Into Packers Game

Both players would have been limited in a full-on practice Wednesday, the team said

The Chicago Bears will open their 2019 season on Thursday night when they take on the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field, and there are several players who could potentially miss the big game.

The Bears went through a walk-through on Wednesday, but according to the team’s injury report, tight end Trey Burton would have been limited had the team conducted a full practice.

Burton, who like most of the team’s starters did not appear in a preseason game, had offseason sports hernia surgery, but is now dealing with an unrelated groin injury, according to General Manager Ryan Pace.

The tight end’s status is officially questionable for the game, according to the team.

Also questionable are offensive lineman Rashaad Coward, who is battling an elbow issue, and defensive lineman Bilal Nichols, who has been limited over the last two days with a knee injury.

The Packers have already ruled out two players for the season opener, as wide receiver Darrius Shepherd and linebacker Oren Burks were both listed as out on the final injury report. Cornerback Ka’dar Hollman is questionable with a neck injury that limited him in practice throughout the week.

Cornerbacks Kevin King and Tramon Williams were both listed as limited participants on Wednesday, but neither was included on the team’s game status report, indicating that they will likely play on Thursday night.
