Chicago Bears Announce Captains for Week 1 vs. Packers

The Bears will rotate the captaincy each week, Nagy says

The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers are getting ready to renew their rivalry this weekend at Lambeau Field, and we have a recap of how the series has gone historically between the two teams.

The Chicago Bears will rotate captains on a weekly basis this season, and head coach Matt Nagy has revealed his first batch of leaders for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

For the Week 1 tilt at Lambeau Field, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, defensive end Akiem Hicks, and running back Benny Cunningham will wear the captain’s “C” on their jerseys, Nagy said in a press conference Thursday at Halas Hall.

Nagy and company will select one captain from each of the three phases each week.

Under former head coach John Fox, captains were chosen by the players, and served throughout the season.
