Drying Out After Record Rainfall

Wednesday brings chance for more storms

The Chicago area is getting a couple of days reprieve from the rain, but don't get used to it.

NBC meteorologist Brant Miller says Tuesday will feel a lot like Monday -- rain-free, with temperatures in the mid-80s.

But things will begin to change Wednesay, with a warm front push temperatures back toward the 90s, and creating chances for rain and thunderstorms for the rest of the week.

The area saw 6.86 inches of rainfall Saturday, marking a Chicago record set back in 1871.

The rain created flooding issues in homes from Desplaines to Wheeling to Mt. Prospect.

"Carpet, some furniture, a lot of books. There's just some things that we haven't gone through yet," said Karen Tittle of Mt. Prospect.

Flood warnings remain in effect for several area counties.
