‘You're Coming With Me:' Boy Escapes Attempted Kidnapper on South Side

Police say the man put his hand over the victim’s mouth, said “you’re coming with me,” and tried to abduct the boy

Chicago police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a boy in the city’s West Chatham neighborhood this week.

According to authorities, the boy was walking outside to get a newspaper in the 8700 block of South Princeton Avenue on Thursday morning when he was grabbed from behind by the unidentified man.

Police say the man put his hand over the victim’s mouth, said “you’re coming with me,” and tried to abduct the boy.

The boy was able to escape, and the man fled the scene.

The suspect is described by police as an African-American male between the ages of 25 and 35, standing between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet tall. The man, who has a goatee and a light complexion, weighs between 210 and 240 pounds.

The man was wearing black Converse gym shoes with black soles and red zippers, and may have been wearing a green coat with a red-hooded sweatshirt.
