Boy, 14, Arrested For Bringing Unloaded Gun To School

An unloaded .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol reportedly was found in the boy's boot

A 14-year-old Chicago boy was arrested Thursday after he was accused of bringing an unloaded gun to his elementary school.

Police said another student told staff at Hendricks Elementary Community Academy the boy had the gun. Police were called, and the Chicago Tribune reports the boy was moved into an empty classroom and a school security officer patted him down.

An unloaded .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol was found in the boy's boot, according to the Tribune.

Police said the boy was cited with unlawful use of a weapon. He was cited as a juvenile.

A similar incident happened earlier this month at John L. Marsh Elementary School. A 13-year-old was arrested after police said he brought an unloaded gun and ammunition to school.

Officers found a folding knife in the teen's pocket and an unloaded revolver and bullets in a book-bag in his locker.
