Fox & Obel Grocery Store Files For Bankruptcy

Troubled gourmet grocer Fox & Obel has filed for bankruptcy, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The newspaper reports the owner of the Streeterville store has debts between $1-$10 million, with creditors ranging from the IRS, food suppliers, ComEd and its pest control company.

The filing comes weeks after the store was shut down because of multiple health inspection violations, including issues with fruit flies and cockroaches.

The store first opened in 2001 and remained open on Thursday.
