A box filled with puppies was found by police in the middle of a street on Chicago’s South Side early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Five puppies were discovered around 3 a.m. in a container near 74th and Bell Streets in the city’s West Englewood neighborhood after authorities said they received a tip.

The dogs were brought to the 8th District police station where CPD confirmed one officer adopted two of the animals.

Police said they are looking to see if someone takes home the other three puppies. If not, they will be taken to an area animal shelter, the department said.
