7 Companies Plan 700-Plus Layoffs

Lowe's leads the pack with 177 layoffs expected in December

More than 700 jobs in Illinois will hit the chopping block in the middle of the holiday season.
 
Seven companies alerted the Illinois Department of Employment Security to the cuts expected before December, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.
 
Lowe’s Home Centers Inc. is leading the businesses with 177 layoffs. The home improvement retailer closed two stores, in Aurora and Oswego, last month.
 
Temple-Inland Inc., which makes shipping boxes, will eliminate 95 positions in Elgin and 77 jobs in Chicago when it closes two locations.
 
Metal door and window maker Milgard Manufacturing will close its doors in Aurora and cut 87 jobs.
 
Rich Products Corp., which produces baking industry supplies, will shut down its Wheeling location and let 86 workers go.

The Hickory Ridge Marriott Conference Center in Lisle also will shut down, shedding 84 jobs.
 
Truck rental company, Ryder Integrated Logistics, will shut down its Joliet operations and eliminate 62 jobs. 
 
ProBuild Holdings Inc., which deals building materials, will shutter its Yorkville location and lay off 58 people.
