3 Teen Girls Charged, Accused of Robbing Women in Downtown Chicago

Three teen girls have been charged in a series of robberies involving women in downtown Chicago.

Police say two 15-year-old girls and a 13-year-old girl were each charged with one felony count of robbery. The 13-year-old also faces a misdemeanor count of battery.

Police said the girls turned themselves into police after surveillance images were released during a police investigation into the robberies.

The girls are accused of robbing women walking alone in downtown Chicago on at least three occassions. During the robberies, the girls allegedly battered the lone victims and fled with their personal belongings, police said.

The group of suspects were said to have taken cellphones and backpacks that contained computer tablets and ran away, police said.

Two of the robberies were reported between 9 and 9:15 p.m. Oct. 16 in the 100 block of North Michigan Avenue and the 200 block of East Randolph Street, police said. The most recent robbery was reported about 10 p.m. Oct. 19 in the first block of East Van Buren Street.
