2 Dead, 5 Injured in Bartlett Rollover Crash, Police Say

Two people are dead after a tragic crash in Bartlett. NBC 5’s Chris Hush has the latest.

A horrific single-vehicle crash in suburban Bartlett has claimed the lives of two people and injured five others, police say.

The accident occurred at the intersection of West Lake Street and Route 20 on Sunday, according to authorities. Seven people were riding in a 2005 Ford Escape SUV when it crashed, killing two of the occupants.

Police believe that a 25-year-old man was driving the vehicle when it left the roadway, struck a chain-link fence, and wrapped around a utility pole.

The driver of the vehicle and a 31-year-old woman were killed, according to authorities. The other five passengers in the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital and St. Alexius Medical Center.

West Lake Street had been closed for accident reconstruction, but has since reopened.
