Charges Pending After Police Chase in Little Village

Police say that one of the men arrested was released, and one is potentially facing charges

Chicago police were questioning a potential person of interest in the deadly shooting of a nurse in the city’s Little Village neighborhood. NBC 5’s Lexi Sutter reports.

One man has been released and another remains in custody after they were arrested following a police chase on Friday night.

According to authorities, the two men were spotted in a vehicle wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old nurse in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood.

A pursuit started about 11:47 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Sawyer Avenue in Little Village, Chicago police said.

Illinois State Police saw the vehicle at 11:52 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 94 at 47th Street, according to a statement.

The vehicle crashed into another vehicle at 75th Street and Lafayette Avenue, and the driver and passenger were taken into custody for questioning a block away near 75th and Perry Avenue, authorities said.

As of Saturday afternoon, a 37-year-old man was released without charges, and a 19-year-old man remains in custody. Charges are pending, but it is unknown if the charges are connected to the chase or to the Tuesday shooting of 32-year-old Frank Aguilar.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aguilar was in the 3700 block of West 32nd Street when someone in a gray SUV drove by and opened fire, authorities said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
