At least five people have been injured and one person has died after they were involved in a three-vehicle wrong-way crash on I-290 early Sunday morning.
The crash happened in Forest Park at the Des Plaines Avenue exit when a wrong-way driver entered the eastbound lanes traveling west and hit a van head-on and struck another car.
At least five people were transported to Loyola University Medical Center, and one person has died. The driver of the wrong-way car survived the crash.
The man who died was 29-year-old Juan Carlos Salazar, the driver of the van that was struck, Illinois State Police confirmed. Salazar was a member of the Chicago-based band Escuela de Rancho, according to friends. The band was allegedly driving back from a show they performed in Milwaukee when the crash happened.
The name of the wrong-way driver has not been released, but police said he is a 22-year-old male.
All lanes are now open.
