Rape Victim Escapes in Dramatic Fashion

West Side man arrested and accused of rape

A Garfield Park woman made a dramatic escape from a rapist's home this weekend.

She tied bed sheets together and slipped out a second story window while her attacker snoozed in another room, the Sun-Times reports.

The unnamed 46-year-old victim feared for her life, but managed to get to a phone and dial 911, alerting cops to the location of Johnny Ames, who alleged kidnapped her and raped her at gunpoint.

Cops arrested Ames, 45, at his home, and charged him with multiple felonies, including aggravated criminal sexual assault and kidnapping, according to the paper.

Police also recovered a weapon, which Ames allegedly held to the back of the victim's head while he assaulted her.

Ames is scheduled for bond court Monday, according to Harrison District police.
