Village Tap Hosts Local Beer Bash

Chicago, you might've heard us mention a time or two, has seen something of a new dawn in craft beer of late. Great new breweries are popping up all the time, and the old (well, not too old) standbys are doing a fine job keeping pace with all the innovation. But all these new beers, with their varying batch sizes and brewery locations, can at times be a little hard to come by all in one place. Problem, meet solution: a 26-tap takeover at The Village Tap that kicks off at 5 p.m. this Thursday featuring many of the very best local brews Chicago has to offer.

The city and the suburbs alike will put in a good showing at this Thursday's takeover, with offerings from familiar favorites like Goose Island, Three Floyds and Half Acre, newcomers like 5 Rabbit and Finch's, and some slightly off-the-beaten-path breweries like Emmett's, Wild Onion and Argus. Though Village Tap owner Mike Green notes that the tap list is still subject to change, as of press time, these brewers all plan to bring out the good stuff, everything from suburban Emmett's rare Belgian Pale Ale to 5 Rabbit's new 5 Vulture Dark Ale. In addition to the pints on offer, there'll be samples, giveaways, and pop-ins from local brewers. The Tap Takeover's free to attend, and the beer will stay at Village Tap through the weekend, while supplies last.
