Get Lost at Found Sound Festival

Fans of far-out music in far-out places should find plenty to like about this weekend's experimentally minded, totally free Found Sound Festival, going down in and around the Ukranian Village starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. As the Chicago Reader reports, Found Sound eschews traditional venues, opting instead for a non-contiguous string of businesses, "yards, side gardens and back porches" for its stages. Novel!

Found Sound's musical lineup is every bit as sprawling and off-kilter as its setting, with performances from psych-droners White/Light, space-punkers Plastic Crimewave, charmingly named noise duo Piss Piss Piss Moan Moan Moan and quite a few more. Most of the fun of experimental music is in discovery, and Found Sound's hide-and-seek setup seems like it'll really lend itself to the shock of the new. A full program of events is available here.
