Video: Blackhawks Poke Fun at Election Ads; Kane and Toews Want YOUR Vote

The Chicago Blackhawks are an up-and-coming young team.

Two of their young stars, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, are widely regarded as the faces of one of the NHL's highest-profile franchises. They are a big reason why attendance is back where it needs to be in Chicago, and the television ratings are on the way up, too.

By the way, if all that isn't enough, Chicago gets to be the center of attention for the NHL's Winter Classic New Year's Day at Wrigley Field.

With voting underway for the 2009 NHL All-Star Game, the Blackhawks decided to have some fun with their promotion of both Kane and Toews. The recent presidential election saw attack ads from all sides about all candidates. They pulled no punches.

Kane and Toews took the gloves off, too.

You can view the ads that the Blackhawks are running after the jump.

First up, here is the ad for Toews.

Clever? I agree.

However, it's worth noting that there is pro hockey in England. Please don't let that minor detail affect your enjoyment of the ad.

Now take a look at the one they put together for Kane.

Not much needs to be said. Yes, it's kind of old to make fun of election-style advertising. However, these ads are extremely well-done. I approve both messages, if that's possible.

"Pick Patrick Kane. A name that sounds like it's spelled."

Awesome.
