Ethyl's Launches Food Truckin' Thursdays

Big wheels just keep on turning. This morning, we brought you news of Evanston's first ever food truck festival scheduled for this Sunday, and you can now mark your calendars for yet another food truck meet-up launching next Thursday in Chicago proper. The inaugural Truckin' Thursday will take place on June 30, and is coordinated by Chicago Food Trucks, a loosely-organized movement to bring more food trucks to the streets of Chicago.

Similar to the Tuesday evening food truck meetings that happen in Lincoln Park, Truckin' Thursdays will feature at least seven trucks each week from 6 to 9 p.m. The mobile vendors will converge at Scott Harris's new dive bar, Ethyl's, which will stay open until 2 a.m. for the occasion. Given the festive atmosphere at April's Food Truck Summit at Goose Island, the booze is just what a food truck parking lot party needs. In other mobile news, it looks as though Paul Kahan has a food truck in the works. The Blackbird/Publican/Big Star mastermind posted a photo of a truck to Twitter today. Kahan confirms that he does own the truck, though it's not ready to hit the streets yet (that "Mobile Cuisine" sticker is from a previous owner). Considering the hints Big Star has been dropping recently, we'd double down on bets for a taco truck in the future. [ChicagoFoodTrucks; Twitter]
