The Buzz: Cullerton is a member of his local neighborhood watch as well as a member of his local chapter of Knights of Columbus. In 1990, Cullerton enlisted in the U.S. Army's infantry division and remained there for three years. Cullerton was elected as a Villa Park trustee and later was elected to Villa Park village president where he has worked on budgeting and made improvements on the city's environmental practices.
Cullerton is focused on funding for education, "green" technology and state budgeting. He is pro-choice and believes in same-sex marriage. Cullerton is also a strong proponent of the Affordable Care Act which strengthens Medicare and provides affordable prescriptions and access to preventive services to senior citizens.
