Son of Former Chicago Bears QB Dies

The son of former Chicago Bear Quarterback Erik Kramer is dead.

Griffen Kramer, 18, was found Sunday morning at a friend's home in Agoura Hills in Los Angeles County, Calif., according to Ventura County Star. Los Angeles County Coroner's office states Kramer died in his sleep.

The younger Kramer followed in his father's footsteps and was a backup quarterback for Thousand Oaks High School in suburban Los Angeles.

"Initial indications suggest his passing was due to alcohol poisoning," said school officials in a statement Monday. The coroner did say the cause of the teen's death has not been fully investigated.

Erik Kramer played for the Chicago Bears from 1994-1998. He was starting quarterback for 46 games over five seasons, NFL.com reports.
