It's official. After weeks of rumors, officials at The Loop (WLUP 97.9FM), announced Monday that morning show host Jonathon Brandmeier has agreed to a contract extension.

Station managers did not say how long Johnny B re-signed for, or for how much.

Sun-Times media critic Lewis Lazare reported that the contract is believed to only for a year, and that he'll be making much less than the $1.2 million annual salary in his previous contract.

Some radio industry sources say the new figure is closer to $500,000 a year, with extra bonuses if ratings benchmarks are met.

Marv Nyren, Chicago market manager for WLUP parent Emmis Communications, disputes the new salary structure.

Johnny B's show runs Monday through Friday from 6 am - 10 am.
