Multiple Metra Lines Running With Delays After Tree Falls on Tracks

Trains on multiple Metra lines are operating with significant delays after a tree fell onto the tracks Monday afternoon, the agency says.

According to the agency’s social media accounts, service on the Metra North Central Service line is stopped between the O’Hare Transfer and Prospects Heights because of the issue. Train 113, scheduled to arrive in Antioch at 6:38 p.m., is stopped because of the removal of the tree.

Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line is also experiencing significant delays because of the problem, the agency said.

High winds across the Chicago area have prompted Special Weather Advisories across the area, and also led the National Weather Service to issue a Lakeshore Flooding Advisory. Winds exceeding 45 mph have been recorded in several areas, and trees have been knocked down by high winds in several portions of the region.
