Three people suffered serious injuries after apparently being thrown from a boat that overturned in Lake Michigan Wednesday night near Montrose Harbor on the North Side.

Police were called to the harbor about 9 p.m. on a report of an overturned boat and found three people in the water, a police Marine Unit officer said.

Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said the three were found quickly and taken out of the water.

All three were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, two in critical condition and one in serious condition, he said. The three were apparently injured when the boat struck them as it overturned.
